Assistant Director for Administration Lynch Cancer Research Center

The Assistant Director for Administration supports the Lynch Cancer Research Center in the School of Medicine. This position will be responsible for the development, management, and execution of new and existing programs to support both faculty and learners in the Lynch Cancer Research Center.  Prefer oncology clinical trial experience to help growth/development of strong and successful clinical research infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

Provide the day-to-day oversight of office activities and support the Lynch Cancer Research Center (LCRC) and student workers. Prepare the LCRC Annual Report. Updates and maintains Lynch Cancer Research Center website
 

Plan and coordinate internal and external events. Oversee LCRC events including the LCRC Symposium, seminar series, etc., including event management and communications.
 

Collaborate and partner with SOM, University offices and health system partners, when necessary. Track data related to the LCRC, working with the School of Medicine Office of Accreditation and Quality Improvement when necessary. 

Partner with University Communications and University Relations for philanthropy and marketing initiatives
 

Manage cancer center small internal grant opportunities, connecting learners with cancer research opportunities, and implementation of various programs including faculty development. 
 

Coordinate faculty hiring related to the cancer center. Collaborate with CHI HR for clinical hires for the Lynch Cancer Research Center (LCRC).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorâ??s degree required. Masterâ??s degree preferred.
  • 3â??5 years of experience overseeing administrative operations required.
  • Experience in basic science and/or clinical research preferred.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include at least five yearsâ?? experience in administrative and leadership
  • positions in a medical school (or equivalent) related to research in the Health Sciences.
  • Prefer oncology clinical trial experience to help growth/development of strong and successful clinical research infrastructure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstration of progressive leadership responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, leaders and staff at all levels, the ability to use good judgement in working independently and as part of a team, and showing initiative are all desired attributes for this position
  • Ability to anticipate required work and self-initiate projects that have periodic or cyclical deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
